Hi! This is Moby.

I am now fully and hopelessly addicted to Claude Code.

It might be useful for you to see how I use it.

What you can expect today:

  • How I use Claude to measure what’s important

  • Exactly what I track

  • How AI is my personal CFO

Enjoy!

P.S: I recently made a client 10X their money within 45 days via LInkedIn ads. Check it out.

Disclaimer: I’m not an AI expert. This is me sharing my usage. Some of you will look at this and think I’m a toddler. Love you, go touch grass ❤️

#1 Using AI as my Accountability Partner

I track what’s important in a Scorecard

From the book Traction and the EO system, I realized the value of just measuring things constantly.

So I took my goals and decided to measure the one KPI that matters to each:

  • Have money → track cash

  • Get clients → track LinkedIn posts

  • Don't get fat → track calories

  • Grow the newsletter → track outreach

  • Pay off the mortgage → track principal paid

So I track those within Claude. For example, here’s last week:

This way, I know and have a hold of my progress every single week.

If I miss my goals, that’s ok. It’s not about being perfect for me.

It’s about making directional progress every week (yeah yeah that sentence wasn’t AI)

I can view my Scorecard from any device

I should be more serious about security, but I want to be able to see this page anywhere in the world.

I want to be able to wake up and look at it while having coffee, driving 120mph, or just chilling. (the middle one might not be true)

So I have it on a webpage that is saved as a bookmark on my desktop and phone. It’s also pinned to my whatsapp messages to myself:

I can access my Scorecard in Claude too

If I type in /weekly, it refreshes the data and dumps in in more detail.

Here’s the output:

Do I remember this data? No.

Do I retain a pulse on it? Yes.

Now let’s talk money.

#2 Using AI as my Personal & Business CFO

Claude connects to my Bank Accounts & Quickbooks

Sounds scary, but it’s phenomenal.

I used to use Monarch, but now it’s all Claude. And it’s connected to my

  • Checking accounts

  • Savings accounts

  • Investment accounts

  • (across personal and business)

I can easily ask it simple questions around balances, cash flow, investments, and it pulls it:

I use Era Finance for this, a product built by folks who used to be at Stripe, Apple, Google and more.

I track Cash on Hand daily

Personally, I don't like to keep a lot of cash.

Mostly because I’ll buy a stupid thing, so I try to route it to retirement accounts or invest back in the biz.

I still end up buying a stupid thing or two.

I don't have a salary, so I want to have access to cash. Ya know, if it all goes belly up. It’s more peace of mind than anything else;

I set up a bar to it(3-4 months of both business AND personal expenses), and Era pulls my records daily:

This gives me a visual representation of whether I've hit my goal. Because once I do, I’ll use the extra cash to:

  • Frontload 401(k)

  • Pay off some principal (the mortgage, not a school official)

  • Invest in marketing more

  • Buy SpaceX stock baby no.

I prefer this method over checking my balances in an app, because this balance is from

  • 1 personal checking account

  • 1 personal savings account

  • 1 business personal account

  • 1 business savings account

I can easily see yesterday’s spend

I really should pay more attention to where I spend money, so I just glance at it every day. Here’s what I spent in the biz recently for example:

This way, I’m watching what I spend on.

Claude also keeps track of recurring expenses

This way I keep track of what's going on in my life, and I know what is needed to be cancelled:

I now have a personal CFO

Looking at balances is nice, but it doesn't help answer bigger questions.

Now, I can ask the questions I need answered:

  • What's my YTD net and margin?

  • Can I afford to hire X right now?

  • What am I actually spending money on?

  • How fast am I paying down the mortgage?

  • What's owed to me but not in the bank yet?

  • What's left after taxes, the floor, and the cards?

  • Am I above my $XX cash floor after credit cards clear?

  • If I close nothing new, where does cash land in 90 days?

  • What's my signed revenue this month and what % of goal?

AI needs context, and I have given it a lot. Here's the major files that I have around my finances:

  • pipeline.md → Who are active prospects?

  • accounts-receivable.md → How much money is coming in?

  • mortgage-principal.md → How much more debt do I have?

  • financial-snapshot.md → What’s all the balances I have?

Quick note: I can scale your paid ads engine

I’m a Fractional Paid Acquisition lead for B2B companies.

That means I take over the paid ads engine for folks, and get them to scale. Fast.

Results:

  • Scaled AI startup from $2M to $3.7M

  • Scaled founder-led business from $40k to $1.12M

  • Scaled lead-arbitrage business from $6k in revenue to $3M (acquired)

  • Reconfigured $700K/year LinkedIn ads for cybersecurity company ($1.5B acquisition)

Personal Roundup

It’s been a wild month.

Business is going well, but I’ve been on and off the struggle bus mentally.

Part of it comes from working all the time (which is the life I chose for right now).
Part of it is letting things like exercise and friends slip.

But there are silver linings:

  • My mom is visiting from Pakistan, and that’s been wonderful

  • I’ve got aunts and cousins visiting later this month, and I’m pumped

  • I go to Red Fridge Society regularly, and it’s dope to hang out with founders

  • Getting Linkedin coaching from Sam Browne has been solid

Reminds me of this:

I wrote a post about the good times:

Hope you’re doing well.
